3 - growingnglowing - the work party
My life has been so insane this past little while, but let’s start off with that work party - scandalous!
The work party was so much fun, but I should give you a little background. I work at a pub in Burlington, On., and I haven’t worked here very long but I do enjoy it a lot. It can get a little hectic, and there used to be enough drama for a reality show - a conversation we just had at work actually - but there were some * changes * mid summer and I personally feel that overall, we had a pretty damn good staff this summer. I feel like almost everyone we worked with had the same work ethic, maybe even others more than me. We had some people come back from school to work, first of all from Covid-19, second of all because they are going back to school. We also had some people that were hired new and turned out to be great!
Lately in my life I have been focusing on trying to build healthy, meaningful relationships with people. That may seem simple but the reason that this is something big for me, is because I feel like having an extremely toxic relationship at a young age (15-18) actually caused me to not acquire or build on those skills, and then I suffered from that in relationships following, and still struggle with that today. The positive thing about this is that from the people in my life that have been around for a while, and people who have been around for only a year or even just months, I feel valued, I feel appreciated, and I feel like I am breaking back out of a shell that I have had myself in for a very long time.
To tie these two topics together… finally, right? It was overall a great night simply because everyone got to come together to appreciate the hard work we’ve all been putting in but especially for all of the hardworking students we had, and I love appreciating my friends!! It was a blast. The week leading up everyone was so excited to let loose and just be together without having to think of that workplace stress and bull, and I think that is beautiful. So I was invited to have some pre drinks with some of the other lovely ladies that were off work that day, got my mom to drive me there so you know I was planning on being slightly irresponsible. My coworker had the sweetest pup! Once we got to the bar I ended up filling up our sauces with another coworker and handing out a take out order, while I was in heels. Boom. I know. I honestly cannot remember what I was drinking, but I remember a few shots, making one of my coworkers a double vodka soda, drinking two drinks at once, dancing and having a blast, what more could you ask for? WELL … once we were told there was an after party I feel like hell started to creep in. We piled into a car - with a designated driver of course - and set off to grab some bathing suits and drop off some people. In the middle of our errands before the after party it was brought to my attention that one of my coworkers had hurt her ankle but didn’t know how, turns out she actually sprained it ya’ll. Isn’t that crazy! Once at the after party, for whatever reason, I thought it may be a good idea to go swimming in one of my coworkers tee shirts and my panties. So yes, if you’re still unsure, my coworkers seen my ass. Shameful. I also lost my watch there, and left carrying my clothes, in my bare feet.
Fast forward to the next day at work, I come in with the worst hangover I’ve had in probably years, with no Tylenol to cure it. Once I took the Tylenol I actually ended up being fine, but my one work friend had said to me he didn't know why he was so hungover or something along the lines of that - double vodka soda - and I had to explain that unfortunately that was my fault. The look of surprise and realization at the same time was a moment I don’t think I’ll forget, I make really good drinks that definitely creep on you slowly, and I take a lot of shots. Until Friday my friend, when I see you in Kingston and make ya’ll party too hard again.
This is just a little bit of what I’ve been up to but I now have topics for quite a while that I would like to talk about, so hopefully this blog isn’t going anywhere. Follow my Instagram and comment under my pictures if you have things/topics you might want me to write about!!
Last thing today that warmed my little heart was a message I received from @juniior.miint saying that I had inspired them to write a blog as well! This is exactly what I am hoping to do here. This is an outlet as much as it is a platform and I hope to use it to the best of my ability.
Checking out, happy Monday.
